Schedule approval records, 1982-[ongoing].

The State Records Commission was established in 1955 in order to preserve records of historical importance. The Commission is "charged with the responsibility of determining which state records shall be permanently preserved.., which state records may be destroyed or otherwise disposed of after they have been microfilmed and which state records may be destroyed or otherwise disposed of without microfilming." (Ala. Code, 41-13-12 [1975]). As the support staff for the State Records Commission, the Records Management Division personnel maintain the files of the Commission. This series consists of scheduled approval records, signed by the Commission, approving the schedule dispositions for implementation. Each schedule approval record must be signed by a quorum of the seven commission members for the schedules to be inplemented. Information on the schedule approval records includes the date of the State Records Commission meeting, the schedule numbers approved, the signatures of the Commission members, and the signature of the agency records liaison. The record also limits the time period during which the schedule may be implemented.
